I’m currently reading through a book on sonic identity (audio logos, brand anthems, etc.), and there are many references to the AT&T audio logo that was apparently launched a few years ago.
Here’s the thing: I had no idea what this sound was. Reading a book about sound is maddening when you can’t already hear the sounds in your head. Apple startup sound? No problem. NBC? No problem. AT&T? No clue.
It was bugging me so I searched for it and found a video on Fast Company.
This is a good example of missing new cultural references in your home country while living abroad. It’s certainly not the first time I’ve experienced this.
